Providing traffic and revenue forecasts for Italy’s Cispadana motorway
Coopsette/Autobrennero
Our client was able to beat strong competition to become the promoter for the new 63km toll road in Northern Italy.
Our role
Stretching 63km along the Emilia Romagna region in Northern Italy, the Cispadana Motorway is a new toll road that will provide an alternative to the congested Modena-Bologna stretch of the A1 motorway. We helped provide traffic and revenue forecasts and a traffic risk profile on the motorway for the consortium of Coopsette and Autobrennero.
Despite strong competition from both local and international groups in bidding for the project, they have been selected as promoter of the initiative.
How we did it
Our traffic and revenue forecasts helped support the scheme design and business case for the motorway.
We developed a detailed traffic model in VISUM for the Emilia-Romagna region and assisted the consortium during pre-bid feasibility evaluation of the different alignment and junction locations of the new scheme. During the bidding process we worked closely with technical and environmental advisors on the scheme optimisation and supported the consortium during the evaluation phase.
As a result of our work, sponsors and lenders achieved clear understanding of the traffic and its prospects, as well as areas of uncertainty and risk.
