We are looking for a talented and motivated Principal Consultant (Planner or Engineer) with a broad range of transit/transportation planning project management experience to join our offices in Denver or Canada.

We operate five offices in North America including Denver, Boston, Vancouver, Toronto, and San Juan. Steer Davies Gleave is experiencing considerable growth in the US transportation market. We are seeking to recruit an experienced project manager to secure and manage new projects and continue to advance the company’s growth in the US.
This position will support a wide range of transportation planning projects which include transit master plans, regional strategic planning, rapid transit alternatives analysis, rapid transit benefits/business cases, land use/transportation integration, transit concept design studies, urban realm planning, and multi-modal integration. Our North American clients represent multiple public and private organizations from local municipalities to the Federal government.
Essential Skills and Experience
Applicants must have a related advanced degree (planning, engineering, economics, geography, etc.) and a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in planning and project management. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, thrive in a (developing) small office environment, and work well as part of diverse project teams.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. This position requires experience in project management, project budgeting, client relations, quality control, and business development. The successful applicant will:
- Have proven skills and experience in project management and project delivery
- Bring strong communications and client relations skills
- Hold considerable expertise in transit/transportation planning
- Bring established contacts in the US transportation market
- Directly lead proposal teams and secure new projects through business development activities
- Manage and drive their own career path and network
This position will require travel (primarily Western US), depending upon the location of projects and business development pursuits. Additional experience with other software packages (e.g. GIS, AutoCAD, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign) would be beneficial. AICP or PE certification would be beneficial. Working business ability in a second language, especially Spanish, would be considered an asset, but is not required.
