John Lawrence - Chairman
John first joined the Board as a Non-Executive Member in October 2008. He has 25-years experience in financial and professional services advising the banking, insurance and financial sectors. John is a founding director of Lawrence Somerset Ltd, a specialist consultancy providing market-led strategies to financial, professional, retailing, media and public sector organisations. John previously worked for Booz Allen & Hamilton as a Principal of its financial services practice and PA Consulting Group.
Hugh Jones - CEO
As Chief Executive Officer Hugh leads the Company and has overall accountability for its performance, the use of its assets, protection of the Company’s core values and the development and achievement of its strategic goals. Hugh joined the firm from London Underground in 1999. Early in his career he successfully led Steer Davies Gleave’s transactions and strategy division, leading it to be amongst the most successful divisions of the business and was instrumental in the development of the company's capability in the provision of commercial advice to the transportation sector. Since then he has carried out joint CEO responsibilities alongside Steve Hewitt, overseeing SDG’s growth.
Steve Hewitt - Group Development and Operations Director
Steve's career in transport and consultancy spans more than 30 years. His experience includes high-level roles at Eurostar (Head of Strategic Planning) and Railtrack (Head of London Project Development) before joining Steer Davies Gleave in 2001. As Group Development and Operations Director Steve will lead the Company’s approach to achieving growth, ensuring that the capability of the Company is employed to deliver growth and excellent consultancy. He continues to work with clients to develop the business and, alongside Hugh Jones, will be responsible for the development of company strategy in conjunction with the Board.
Fred Beltrandi - Executive Director
Having joined in 1988, Fred has played a major role in the continued growth of the company and was appointed to the Board in 1998. He has extensive experience in major transport scheme evaluation and provides recommendations on the feasibility and risk associated with joint public/private ventures. He has worked assignments all over the world including USA, France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Iceland, Mexico and Sri Lanka and continues to provide advice on market strategy and business performance.
Catherine Clark - Finance Director
Catherine joined the company in 2009. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and has since gained 12 years of experience working in the Finance teams of global multi-national engineering and consulting companies for Tokyo Electron Europe Limited and Ricardo Plc. Catherine has been a member of the Company’s senior leadership team since 2010 overseeing the Company’s finance function. She provides strategic financial and tax advice to the board and works collaboratively with the business to support growth.
Jim Steer - Non-Executive Director
Jim is one of the country's leading authorities on transport. He is a founder of the company and was Managing Director until March 2002, when he took a three-year secondment to the Strategic Rail Authority as a member of its Executive with responsibilities for all of its strategic planning activities. In 2005 he re-joined Steer Davies Gleave's Board. He is the Director of Greengauge 21, Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a member of the West End Commission and a columnist in the Transport Times.
Bill Pike - Non-Executive Director
Bill joined the Board as Non-Executive Director in 2010. He is an experienced board member and senior director who has worked across a range of businesses in consultancy and professional services. Bill's most recent role was as Chief Operating Officer of Marks & Clerk, one of the largest patent and trademark advisory firms in Europe.
