Colin Rowland - Chairman

Colin RowlandColin joined the Board as a Non-Exec Director in 2003. He has 30 years experience of managing international professional services businesses. Colin worked for LogicaCMG, a global IT and management consultancy, where he served as a main board director for 13 years and UK Managing Director for four years. He saw the firm grow from 100 to 4000 employees. Previously, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Southampton and a committee member of Oxford University's Careers Service.
 

Steve Hewitt - joint CEO

Stephen Hewitt

Steve's career in transport and consultancy spans more than 30 years.  His experience includes high-level roles at Eurostar (Head of Strategic Planning) and Railtrack (Head of London Project Development).  Having joined Steer Davies Gleave in 2001, Steve brings extensive technical expertise and broader management skills, particularly in the sponsorship of major integrated transport projects - typically heavy rail and urban transit. Recently Steve directed the New Lines Study for Network Rail and our Cross River Tram work for Transport for London.  

Hugh Jones - joint CEO

Hugh Jones

Hugh joined the company from London Underground  in 1999. He is an expert in providing procurement and commercial advise within the rail sector and has directed major multi-disciplinary teams and projects. Hugh has successfully led the company's transactions division overseeing a period of sustained growth across Europe. Hugh has been instrumental in the development of the company's capability in the formulation of robust investment cases for a range of major transport projects.  

 

Fred Beltrandi - Executive Director

Fred BeltrandiHaving joined in 1988, Fred has played a major role in the continued growth of the company and was appointed to the Board in 1998. He has extensive experience in major transport scheme evaluation and provides recommendations on the feasibility and risk associated with joint public/private ventures. He has worked assignments all over the world including USA, France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Iceland, Mexico and Sri Lanka and continues to provide advice on market strategy and business performance.

 

Jim Steer - Non-Executive Director

Jim SteerJim is one of the country's leading authorities on transport. He is a founder of the company and was Managing Director until March 2002. He took a three-year secondment to the Strategic Rail Authority as a member of its Executive with responsibilities for all of its strategic planning activities. Jim has expertise in urban transport planning, private sector finance, rail investment, national transport policy and behavioural research. He is a Director of Greengauge 21 and a columnist in the Transport Times.
 

John Lawrence - Non-Executive Director

John LawrenceJohn joined the Board as a Non-Executive Member in October 2008. He has 25-years experience in financial and professional services advising the banking, insurance and financial sectors. John is a founding director of Lawrence Somerset Ltd, a specialist consultancy providing market-led strategies to financial, professional, retailing, media and public sector organisations. John previously worked for Booz Allen & Hamilton as a Principal of its financial services practice and PA Consulting Group.
